Madeira House was established over 60 years ago by our family, well rooted
in Madeira Island.
In those days, after my grandfather moved to Lisbon, it was decided that
there was an opportunity to open a shop where not only the traditional
products from Madeira could be appreciated, but also to enlarge its scope
to all fine portuguese handicrafts.
Madeira House's stand in the 1940's
"Mundo Português" exhibition.
Our family opened several
shops in the same branch, but the original shop, in Rua Augusta, was always
a herald for quality and good craftsmanship, and so it remained a reference
to this day.
Being heirs to a tradition that has been handed over from generation to
generation, it is a pleasure for us to bring Madeira House one step closer
to YOU, by means of this web site.
You are always very welcome to visit us in the heart of the city, one
step away from the river Tagus, in one of Lisbon's finest streets - Rua
Augusta, 133.
